Del Mar Vein Care Expands Practice at Del Mar Plaza Location
Del Mar – March 15, 2010 – Del Mar Vein Care, the first in the county to offer an effective, pain-free spider vein removal treatment known as Veinwave, is expanding its Del Mar Plaza practice adding four new physicians as well as increasing its patient care space. The medical facility, which offers state of the art vein procedures, wrinkle treatments and facial enhancements, as well as pain management for the back, foot and leg, will have four interventional radiologists join its downtown Del Mar based practice. Bassem Georgy, MD; Justin M. Gooding, MD; Donald Ponec, MD, FSIR, and Richard Saxon, MD, FSIR will join Del Mar Vein Care Medical Director Zachary Rattner, MD this spring.

$500,000 streetscaping effort starts tomorrow
Sunday, January 10, 2010 - Del Mar’s downtown is about to be freshened up for the first time in more than a decade.
Tomorrow, ?the city will kick off a $500,000 streetscape project that entails replacing and repairing pavement, gutters and sidewalks on Camino del Mar from 12th Street to 15th Street. The contractor, selected through competitive bidding, is PAL General Engineering Inc. of San Diego, said David Scherer, Del Mar public-works director.

FREE PARKING IN DEL MAR?
Although not quite “free”, at $.50 per hour it is definitely a bargain. Each year at this time Del Mar reduces the parking meter fees as part of the City’s effort to encourage more shoppers to visit the Village area. This lower parking rate is effective Monday, October 5th for the meters under the Inn L’Auberge on 15th Street. The meters are user friendly, and show the time purchased on a clear digital display. They accept quarters that are available from a convenient change machine. The meters are enforced every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. After 6 p.m. parking is free.

Council OKs valets to ease parking at plaza
DEL MAR September 29, 2009 — Parking at Del Mar Plaza, especially on peak summer nights, should get easier with City Council’s unanimous decision at the Sept. 21 meeting to allow the use of valets to satisfy an increased parking requirement. In July, Council members approved a request to expand restaurant service at the site, resulting in a need for 58 additional spaces. They deferred a vote on the use of valet parking to meet that requirement until more information was available and the public had a chance to weigh in. Read More...

Downtown Del Mar Event Traffic and Parking Adjustments for Taste of Del Mar and Art Stroll starting evening of October 2
Del Mar – September 17, 2009 – Along with the Taste of Del Mar and Art Stroll festivities on Saturday, October 3, there will be slight adjustments made for downtown Del Mar traffic and parking. Starting the evening before the Del Mar Village event on Friday, October 2nd, street parking on Camino Del Mar/Pacific Coast Highway 101 between 15th and 11th Streets will be restricted until 8pm Saturday evening.

The Greening of Downtown

The DMVA, with the assistance of the City of Del Mar and Coast Waste Management, is in the midst of developing a three-part downtown recycling program. The first phase of the recycling program, utilizing temporary containers for recyclables during special events, will be put into action during the DMVA’s Summer Solstice celebration in June.

DMVA Visitor / Community Information Center Reopens in Time For Summer
Del Mar – June 3, 2009 – If you’re near Powerhouse Park in Del Mar and wondering what’s nearby be sure and stop by the Del Mar Visitor/Community Information Center. Housed under a green and white pop-up canopy on the grassy area in front of the Powerhouse, the Center is sponsored by Del Mar Village Association (DMVA) and City of Del Mar and run by volunteers who cheerfully answer questions and provide information on downtown Del Mar restaurants, merchants and hotels. The Visitors/Community Center is also stocked full with restaurant menus, maps, coupons, brochures and flyers listing Del Mar shopping and services.

Tasteful observances are planned in all Brigantine locations, including a “$40 for 40” Dinner for two offered Thursdays during May, and the release of a special 40th anniversary bottling of the Brigantine’s 2007 Reserve Chardonnay.
