Del Mar Plaza Offers New Dining Options Just in Time for Summer
Three new restaurants open in popular Del Mar Plaza

Del Mar – May 23, 2009 – Three new restaurants are opening at the Del Mar Plaza just in time for summer dining. The three restaurants – Sunset Bar & Grill, Shibashi Izakaya and Rumi Café expand the Plaza’s dining options offering a variety of choices to suit all palates in one of Southern California’s most charming, seaside locations.

Sunset Bar & Grill is a casual and upbeat dining venue with a menu focused on taste at a moderate price.  The neighborhood grill will offer daily sunset specials alongside breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. “The location and views of the Del Mar Plaza are unmatched and the Sunset Bar & Grill will take full advantage of these attributes providing our restaurant diners the perfect match of great food and an excellent view with a friendly neighborhood vibe,” said Jerry Levy, Director of Operations for Sunset Bar & Grill. In addition to water features, The Bar & Grill will also have TVs for those not wanting to miss their favorite sporting events.

Shimbashi Izakaya offers diners tasty Japanese tapas, unique dinner entrees and an extensive sake bar.  A perfect place to relax after work or enjoy dinner Shimbashi Izakaya provides an Asian infused dining experience with a seasonal changing dinner menu, pairings with sake and sake tastings. To compliment the restaurant’s tapas and dinner entrees, Shimbashi Izakaya offers eight different kinds of sake as well as Japanese ales and wine.

With early morning and evening hours Rumi Café serves coffee, teas and pastries along with lunch and light dinner fare. Offering fresh salads, sandwiches, ice cream and smoothies, the Café is an ideal gathering spot for those wanting to savor a cup of tea or grab a quick bite while enjoying the ocean breeze. Diners can also enjoy displayed artwork from local artists with their meal.

With an incredible oceanview, the Del Mar Plaza offers a broad selection of shopping choices and diverse dining venues all in one location. With nine eating places to choose from with menu selections ranging from burgers to South African Seabass, Asian to Italian cuisine, fine wine to flavored coffees, there’s truly something for every taste to enjoy.

Open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 9pm and on Sunday from 11am to 6pm, the outdoor plaza is located in the heart of downtown Del Mar just steps from the beach, at 1555 Camino Del Mar/Highway 101, Del Mar, CA 92014. Offering a large selection of shops, restaurants, services, and art galleries, the Del Mar Plaza has ample validated underground parking.
