New Offerings Ring in the New Year at the Del Mar Plaza

Del Mar – December 15, 2009 – There’s lots in store for the Del Mar Plaza as new additions are in the midst. If health and fitness are on your holiday wish or new years’ resolution lists then now is the time to enroll in the Del Mar Plaza’s fitness classes. Starting in January, outdoor fitness classes will be offered Monday through Friday at the Del Mar Plaza’s Ocean View Deck. Boot Camp, Zumba Dance, and Cardio Sculpt classes will be offered daily with yoga, mat pilates, nutrition and cooking classes added later in the year. Taught by ACE certified instructor and nutritionist Kelly Webster, the Plaza fitness classes offer individuals an opportunity to tone, burn calories and reconnect their spirit in an outdoor ocean view setting. Slated for spring is the opening of Sunset Yogurt & Ice Cream. The family owned and operated full service restaurant will offer frozen yogurt, ice cream, gelato, smoothies, specialty coffees and teas as well as ice cream cakes. Topping choices will include fresh fruit, candies and sweet goodies making it the perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Two new restaurants will soon make their home at The Plaza. While Sunset Grill and Rumi Café have recently closed their doors, several well-known fine dining establishments are interested in the ocean view space and are currently in talks with Plaza management. And look for a new family style restaurant in the new year as an additional restaurant is also in the midst negotiations for Plaza space.
Back by popular demand, live music at the Plaza will continue in 2010. For the past six months the Plaza has offered free live musical entertainment every Friday night on its ocean view deck in addition to a free youth performance of the Nutcracker. Both offerings have been well attended making the Plaza’s ocean view deck the optimum outdoor setting for casual entertainment.
